A lifelong musician, Kenton Dunson was born and raised in Maryland. He began performing, creating, and recording original music at an early age.

In November 2009, the multi-instrumentalist and lyricist went on several recording retreats. Renting rooms at various hotels in Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., he spent his time writing. This process continued throughout the entire winter and moved the artist to resign from a primary career and pursue the release of the 13-song solo project created over that span entitled "The Kenton Dunson Progressions".
